Landscapes of Colorado Mountains and Plains highlights David Foley as
one of the prominent artists living and working today. Ann Daley,
Associate Curator, Institute of Western American Art at the
Denver Art Museum has
selected 50 exceptional artists. Art critic Michael Paglia provides
a profile of each of the artists. “Many artists interested in
rendering landscapes employ methods associated with abstract
painting, but few as thoroughly as Foley has. His stands of aspens
have as much to do with the action painting of the abstract
expressionists as they do with the methods of traditional landscape
painting, making his finished work stand out owing to its great
originality.”

Landscapes of New Mexico through beautifully
reproduced images illustrates the uniqueness of this
awe-inspiring state. Suzan Campbell, nationally recognized
museum curator and scholar, has selected the artists who
interpret the landscape in styles ranging from abstract to
Impressionistic to highly realistic. David Foley’s work is
aptly described as “Landscape as Energy” and that energy in
nature is revealed in his unforgettable paintings.

The Artist and the American
Landscape selected David Foley’s painting
Desert Hillside to illustrate the intensity of the Light
in the West. “In David Foley’s painting the light is
used to articulate the scene’s dense detail. Here the
artist closes in on a small area and delineates the
profusion of forms, textures, and colors encountered
even in the desert.”
